On the 3rd of may last year, I was attending a meeting with my group, as I am part of alittle organisation. At this meeting I was supposed to hold a speech in front of the other members, but, even though I had it written in front of me, I simply failed to express myself: I couldnt remember the introduction that I had prepared so I improvised. I didnt think it is this harf to make something up on the moment. My speech had three big points to present, which i accidentally inversed, sending an uncomprehensively message. I even skipped the last point cause I couldnt go on any longer I drawed a fast conclusion so I could get past the moment. Even though the other members
applauded, I know it was just pity. After that meeting, when most of the people had left, a friend of mine took me asside saying he wanted to talk to me. I started apologising cause I knew what it was all about, but he didnt judge me. He wanted to congratulate me because I had the courage to go up on that stage when I knew I'm struggling with pubilc speaking. He did say that it didnt sound amazing but he offered to help me improve my speech. To be honest, it hurt a little to hear the harsh truth from a friend, the truth being the fact that my speech was lame, but it really helped me. I felt more confident knowing that there is someone out there encouraging me. The next time I had to hold a speech, I didnt refuse, and I took that shot to improve my speaking. It wasnt gret but it was much better than the last time. I walked to my friend saying how grateful I am and hoping ge could still help me grow. Yes, the truth can be harsh, but having someone who wants to help you overcome it is amazing.
