There are multiple aspects to be considered regarding both cases.
Some people argue that a car better accomodates the needs of an individual. Not only is it faster, but it keeps one protected from the elements and from possible injuries (while accidents are possible, the risk of getting injured is smaller than on a bike or motorcycle). Furthermore, there is room in a car for more than one person and it offers entertainment sources (i.e. radio). Nevertheless, it is a strain on the environement - it is a major source of pollution in cities - and, while the car itself is fast, it may take longer to reach one’s destination due to traffic congestion, which is not a rare occurance.
Other people oppose the usage of cars and advocate for bikes. One first advantage of travelling by bike is physical activity. With sedentarism being the cause of a series of diverse health problems, it is highly beneficial for an individual to be able to engange in physical activities while travelling to their destination. Furthermore, sport is beneficial for mental health as well. In addition to this, bikes are eco-friendly and do not consume gas, which will descrease monthly expenses. However, bikes do not keep the rider protected from the elements. Moreover, not all cities have bike lanes, which might put the person using the bike in danger. Another disadvantage would be the somewhat specific attire required: while sport clothing is not necessary to ride a bike, it would be uncomfortable to ride one wearing a suit. Limited space could also represent a downside to some.
