Within the territory of the Republic of Moldova is a total of 28 youth centres aimed at diversifying and consolidating youth services. Moldovan youth centres suffer from a lack of employees, with 40 budget-provided positions unfilled across the country. There is a large gap between the salary level provided for in the national budget and salaries in effect at youth centres. The largest differences in salary levels are found in Bălti, Edinet, Fălesti, and Orhei. Many youth centres at the local level have been active for more than five years. A lack of newly established youth centres shows a non-interest in further development of the youth sector. The most prevalent types of youth centre activities are trainings, followed by cultural and volunteer activities.
Most youth centres serve more than 500 people in their region. Funding for some youth centres is growing, and for others is decreasing. Sources of funding are diverse: national and international charities, private donations, and grants.
