"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page" emphasizes that if you never go anywhere, you'll have a very limited view of the world.Not all of us can travel the whole globe, but just making travel a priority—even to a new place a day's drive away—can be eye-opening. Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.
