7. When George went into the room, Lucy sat in an armchair in the corner of the room. George didn't see Lucy and he went to the bookcase and chose a book. Then, Lucy coughed and George turned around quickly and said "Excuse me, I didn't see you."
8. This car has been in our family for more than eleven years. Father drove it for the first six years, my sister used it for the next two years, and I had it for the last three years.
9. Has mother come back yet? Yes, she has come half an hour ago. She went straight to the kitchen. Funny! I didn't hear her.
10. I hear that your secretary has left. Yes, she has left two weeks ago. Anybody has been appointed to take her place? I think several women applied to the job, but so far nothing has been decided.
11. Have you seen any good plays lately? Yes, I have been to the theatre last week and I saw a French comedy. Did you liked it? Yes, I loved it. But, of course, I didn't understand very many words.
12. Has Harold booked the hotel room yet? Well, he has written to the hotel ten days ago, but they didn't answer him yet.
13. Has your friend know any English when she first arrived? No, she hasn't know a word, but she has worked hard since then and so, she understands almost everything.
14. At 6 o'clock p.m. Mr. Brown rang me up and said: Is Hob with you? Hob is his son and he came to my place almost every day last week. I haven't seen him today, I answered him. But my sons went to the cinema this afternoon and they haven't come back yet. Perhaps Hob has gone with them.
15. Peter met Robert at school yesterday morning and told him: I didn't see you at the bus stop this morning. You missed the bus? I haven't missed it, answered Peter. I haven't missed the bus for months. But this morning my neighbour gave me a lift.
16. Mr. Williams, Peggy's employer, dictated four letters and told Peggy to type them quickly. About an hour later he rang Peggy's office. He said: Have you finished all the letters? I typed the letters to the Oil Company and to Mr. White. Now I'm typing the letter to Mr. Sullivan, but I didn't begin the one to Mr. Jackson yet.
17. How long Lucy has been in her present job? I think she has been there for three years. And what she has done before that? She has worked in a shoe factory, I suppose.
18. How long Peter has worked in that office? He has worked there for two years. Has he enjoyed working there? No, he hasn't enjoy it at all. That is why he came to our factory where he works for more than a year now.
19. Where else Mr.James has been since he arrived in Romania? Oh, he has been to the monasteries in Northern Moldavia, but he hasn't visited Jassy yet.
