Greating habits in Moldova.
The universal greeting formula is
"Buna ziua!" the equivalent of "Good afternoon!"
"Buna seara" and "Buna dimineata", mean "Good evening" and "Good morning", respectively.
"O zi buna!" is used as a farewell, meaning "Have a good day!"
"Salut!" and "Noroc!" are used as more informal greetings between people of the same age. "Noroc!" is also used for toasting, roughly meaning "Cheers!"
Russian-speaking population uses "Privet!" as an informal greeting. It has been adopted by some Moldovan youth as well.
