2. He didn't want to dive so he jumped into the water instead.

5. The little girl dropped her doll and it fell into the water.
6. When they got home their dog leapt up happily to greet them.

Observații:
Past Tense Simple este un timp verbal care exprimă o acțiune din trecut și care s-a finalizat complet.
Se folosește forma de preterit:
- pentru verbele regulate, se adaugă terminația „-ed” la forma de infititiv:
The artist painted a marvelous Japanese scenery.
- pentru verbele neregulate, se folosește a doua formă a verbelor din lista verbelor neregulate (de ex., to write - wrote - written):
I wrote an interesting essay yesterday.
