Halloween is a holiday of Celtic origin , today taken by many Western countries. It's celebrated on the night of 31st October , although in some countries the date varies-for example in Sweden it's celebrated on the first Saturday of November.
Specific for Halloween is the carved pumpkin which represents the Jack o'lantern.With the occasion of this holiday the kids disguise as wizards , mummies or other characters and go to houses asking Trick or Treat , as a threat that if they don't get sweets , the asked person will be tricked.
The word Halloween represents a Scottish variant of the name All-Hallows-Even , which is the night before ,,All Hallows''.Until the 20 century it was also written Hallowe'en , removing the v and shortening the word.
