Put in some water and turn it until you see bubbles coming from it. Before you apply the patch you must clean and dry the area around the hole. After this you have to put glue around the hole and wait until it dries a little. Unless you do this, the inner tube will stick to the inside of the tyre. I don't know if you will be able to remember all this, but it worth trying because you never know when it is useful to you.
